around here

Not really sure how this picture relates to the post. But it's really good tea, if you were wondering.

-Trusting God for big things in the coming weeks. I can't wait to share more about our vision for the future!

-Still struggling to get over this sickness and sound like a normal human being again. (Although, I'm not going to lie, it does kind of make me feel all mysterious and princessy like The Little Mermaid when she lost her voice).

-Finally going to see Les Miserables. I told Trevor I didn't want to see it until I got my voice back. Mostly because I know I'd want to sing the songs around the house at the top of my lungs immediately after coming home from the theater. But, alas, I can't wait any longer.

-Wondering what, exactly, a fiscal cliff is. I'm not really good at keeping up with the news. During the presidential debate, when they said something about the war being over, I looked at Trevor, wide eyed, and gasped, "The war is over?! Why did no one tell me? Who are they sending all those candy bars to at Walgreens, then? I am SO not giving them money anymore!" I need to work on being a better citizen.

-Mentally, emotionally, and physically preparing for an all day Youth Group event tomorrow (oy). We're going to the Winter Jam concert in Charlotte. When we went last year, I ended up wandering around lost all by myself for over an hour. I was in search of Starbucks, took a wrong turn, and ended up in the ghetto. And by ghetto, I mean ghettoooo.

I think I need to be chaperoned as much as the kids.

Youth events in cities just aren't my thing. Neither are directions (in case you didn't pick up on that).

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

  1. Regardless of what you hear, I assure you it is NOT as simple as "Oh the war is over, everyone is home." Not sure if that comment was meant as a joke, but there are most definitely still service members overseas in combat zones (meaning people are still getting shot at). Even if we are not officially in a conflict, there are still people being sent to places like Korea or Germany or Bahrain (where we hold permanent bases) who are dealing with being separated from their families and cultures. As the wife of a veteran it's really upsetting when people believe things are just magically done with and the missions just stop.

    1. Brittany,
I'm so sorry for being insensitive--I'm totally aware of the danger that our troops still face and am so grateful for you and your husband for serving our country. I was really meaning to just poke fun of my own stupidity, but I guess it didn't come across that way. Thanks for keeping me in check, I appreciate you :)

  2. You are not alone on trying to understand all the news stuff, we don't actually watch the news anymore... so terrible but I just got tired of always seeing celebrity stuff and other nonsense on there.
