Goals for 2014
I am twenty-four years old, have been a Christian all my life, am obsessed with reading, and yet have never read through the Bible. So I'm doing it. No special reading plans, just straight through, cover to cover. A lot of people don't recommend that, but I'm very stubborn and I've decided that's how I want to do it, so there's no turning back. Leviticus, I'm coming for ya.
Letters to friends, strangers, family, whoever. Letter writing is thought of as a lost art, but sitting down to write a letter is still one of my favorite things.
As I've mentioned before, I started writing a book ("book" sounds less frightening than "novel") in the fall. It's been such an incredible learning experience, and now that I've made it past the half-way point I am so pumped about finishing it out.
I'm relatively new to art journaling, but since starting my first art journal a few months ago I've become obsessed. It's so fun and freeing. For me, Project Life is a very structured creativity--it's a family album, others will be looking at it, it's important that it looks neat and uniform. But in the art journal I can let loose and splatter paint and sometimes that just really feels good.
Other goals for 2014:
- Have more friends over for dinner (related: learn how to cook.)
- Take more "couple portraits" of Trev and I.
- Totally clean and organize my bedroom closet (yikes!) Walk-ins are dangerous.
- Have more solo coffeedates just to read and daydream.
- Start dreaming up my next idea for a novel/writing project.
What are your hopes for the coming year?
Wonderful goals for the New Year! I'm setting the goal of just taking one day at a time this year and trying to soak up as many small moments as possible. I want to be generous and gracious to myself and and my family. To give my husband more of my support, and to learn to be a mama.
ReplyDeleteLove all of these. Reading through the Bible is something E and I have decided to tackle together--it's hard but definitely rewarding! And you go girl!! The halfway point of a manuscript is an exciting time :) You can do it!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I am so impressed that you're already halfway done writing a book. And your Bible reading plan made me laugh :) I'm stubborn, too, so I'm right there with you. I bet it will be a breeze for you, though!
ReplyDeleteLove these goals! Sending more snail mail was one of my goals for 2013 and I loved writing letters and notes to people! If you need a pen pal, I'd be down. ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your goals! Mine are: make more art, blog regularly, send more snail mail, document my life more, and give my house a little makeover. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are some fabulous goals, dear girl! I can't wait to hear when they are accomplished!
ReplyDeleteSuch admirable goals! Leviticus was my nemesis too, in reading through the Bible. Wishing you much perseverance and grace as you strive for these ends.
ReplyDeleteOur goals for 2014 sound pretty similar— I'm looking to read more books, complete more art projects, start my novel, and redesign my blog. Hope everything turns out well for you regarding your list!

great goals!
ReplyDeleteWriting letters is my favorite, there is just something timeless and wonderful about it. I just started art journaling when I took Brene Browns ecourse and fell in love with it, I think I might have to start doing it more regularly!
ReplyDeleteyou and i have very similar goals for 2014 and i didn't even realize! i love having friends over for dinner, and i already can cook so much! i also would love to take more couple photos... it may be vain, but this is a time in our life that i want to remember together!
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled upon your blog and immediately love it! Can't wait to see how your 2014 unfolds! - Meg (megsayshello.com)
ReplyDeleteRandomly found your blog and I fell in love!
ReplyDeleteHow is the "read through the entire bible" going?
I am also working on it and so far, i've been keeping up pretty well! Hope you're on the same page!
